March 22, 2009 was a day that forever changed our lives. Matt and I received the news, “We are so sorry but there is no heartbeat.” A day later our little boy Jaxon was born sleeping or born into heaven as we like to say. The hardest day was leaving the hospital without our baby. We had so many plans and dreams. As we left the hallways of the hospital hearing other families rejoice, hearing babies cry, we had silence. We had in our hands a memory box. As the days went on the memory box became very important to me. I would open it up, browse through it’s contents, cry and put it all back. Since we only had a short amount of time with our baby these were the only memories we would have to last a lifetime. To honor our son we decided to begin H.A.L.O. We hope that the boxes we make can help the healing process for another parent. The box includes a gown, hat, blanket, handprint mold, ink pad for babies footprints, literature, disposable camera, teddy bear, keepsake item for mom, a certificate of life and information on free counseling. In 2011, Hope After Loss Organization became a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. We are located in Jasper, Alabama. We are serving three hospitals at this time but hope that our ministry will continue to grow and bless the greater community. It has been almost six years since we said goodbye to Jaxon. We grow stronger everyday and if we can help someone beginning this journey to see that there is “Hope After Loss” then our mission will be accomplished.
